We have high expectations here based on the reviews. when we arrived, however, the amount of vegan options on the menu was overwhelming. the personal was not very eager to help either quite boring and annoying with us. the kombucha we ordered was okay, but not more than 100ml 3 gulps and it was gone. our suppe was okay, but nothing special. the two main dishes that we had were uninitiated, bland, in a grunde bon paste, guacamole and crispy tacos twice over. in consideration of the very high prices that were due to guatemaltectic standards, this was unacceptable and disappointing. the service has also not improved and we were glad to leave the place. if you want good, local and vegan food, you can find much better and much cheaper options on the street.
This place has an incredibly beautiful backyard and a peaceful atmosphere. I would say it is even too expensive for antigua and there was only a handful of vegetarian options. I had the vegetarian enchiladas. the menu warns that this is not Mexican enchiladas. it were in the round two fried hard tortillas high with pickled cauliflower and arguing. I had something similar in another restaurant, but it was much better with a layer of avocado. that wasn't my joy. the big downer for me was that the rear terrace had several birds in cages. I know this is common in Latin America, but not something I like, and I think other vegans might be interested in knowing this.
The first time I sat in the bar area. Girls who worked there were so good. English was perfect. Menu changes are possible and many options available. I am not a burger, but there is an option vegan burger and a sandwich. I had Thai salad and corn tostadas was all really good! the personal was amazing and ready to meet my needs without problems. the English menu also made it easier. could not ask for more atmosphere! the next day we had dinner in the restaurant area (same menu). restaurant area is everything in the garden very beautiful and large. but not spoken by waitress English. service was really slow (has waited 20 minutes for the limonade) eating also took a long time. that's why I took 1 back.
I am visiting Antigua with a group of 7 Vegans, tried Sabe Rico based upon Happy Cow review. We were absolutely blow away! Our group is very well traveled and as such can have relatively high expectations surrounding vegan cuisine. Three weeks ago we were in NYC for three nights, Sabe Rico would compare favorably with some of the better NYC Vegan Restaurants! We had; Open Veggie Sandwich, Three types of Hummus, Three types of Guacamole, Hot Tamale, Pache, etc..., all of which were “to die for”. Couple that with polite efficient service, what’s not to like.
