The ambiance of this tiny restaurant is very good. Small and cosy. Not much room between the small (!!) tables (sitting 2 or 4).During the day you can buy a wide selection of German and Austrian bottled red and white wines, sparkling and rosé as well. The menu / number of dishes is very limited. In April the asparagus season means a few extra dishes are available. The main attraction is however, the Wiener Schnitzel. We had a small platter of Austrian ham and a few Austrian cheeses. A platter for 2 costs 36 Euros. The Quality of the food was OK - nothing special really. But ...OK I guess. The wine - a German Donnhöfer "Weissburgunder" was fine and priced at 36 Euros for a bottle. The staff was a bit arrogant. Not the most welcoming sort of people. Will we be back? Well maybe - maybe not. Probably not.
After a concert at the nearby Philharmonie, we arrived at 10 pm for dinner. It was clear that the restaurant was understaffed. Everything took a long time, from ordering food and drinks to them being served. Staff seemed more concerned in taking their breaks than serving us. At one point three staff left the restaurant together, presumably on a cigarette break, leaving one person charge. They came back 15 minutes later. We left after midnight without having been offered cheese or desert or coffee. Staff were just not interested in serving us. The food is good and the wine list interesting but staff need reminding that dealing with customers is their function not their travail in life.
Close to Potsdamer Platz we found this restaurant with really good food. It is a little pricey but the food and mood made it worth the money. We tried the classic German dishes and they were great. Service was really excellent and I will come back.
Was with colleagues, of which one needed to eat halal, one meat and one vegetarian (me). We ended up here as it had good ratings. Staff was a bit crude, the place was typically Austrian. It was a bit tight but not noisy and we enjoyed the atmosphere. The choice of wines was very good. The waitress informed us later they were part of a chain and this was the high end version of it. I had the choice of one dish only, which I wasn't sure about, as it was described as noodles in broth with lemon grass. I ordered a side of veg too. Funnily enough both me and my muslim colleague really enjoyed the dish as it was very tasty. However, even if it is an Austrian restaurant I think they could do with offering one more veg dish, something potato based or so. My meat eating colleagues enjoyed theirs too, though they said the dishes were heavy, used creamy sauces etc. We had a nice time and in the end it worked out well for us all. I may not go back again unless they add a bit more variety on the menu.
