By the end of our meal we weren't surprised there were so few other customers there on a Saturday evening for dinner. There was wait staff training going on the night we were there and we were asked if it was OK. Certainly we replied since most times restaurants aren't forthcoming about training staff on 'real' customers leaving some awful incidents to colour the meal. Our trainee wait person was nervous but enthusiastic, hope it lasts, as our bread was brought with our choice of two accompaniments: tapenade or pesto, or tomato marmalade or some sort of orange cheese. Only the tapenade was a success. My Dining Companion ordered the Terrine of Salmon and I chose the Picandou. The terrine was fridge cold surrounded with a lemon foam. The delicate taste of the salmon was dulled by the cold and drowned by the intensity of the lemon. My Picandou sat on grilled courgettes around a center of dressed lamb's lettuce. It was OK, certainly not worthy of the setting. My Guinea fowl would have been fine on its own but the dish was tarnished by the slop of a green mash potato and three, yes, three, piles of sliced carrots. There must be a plenty of fresh carrots available as the three piles were two too many. Each tasted exactly the same and I can only guess were plopped on the plate to take up the space. My DC had the Veal cheek which came buried in a huge pile of noodles, not freshly made, that couldn't be finished by the hungriest of diners. Since we were here we went all the way and ordered dessert. The DC had the Blackberry tart which looked promising but tasted of nothing. I bravely ordered the Creme Brulee which was over set and came with Blood Oranges in a thickened sauce that had been cooked. There's a reason cooked Blood Oranges aren't on many menus, because it's a shame to do it to such a lovely fruit and the results are a gluey, tasteless mess. Avoid at all costs.Lesage sits surrounded by high tech but what it puts on the plate isn't worthy of the setting. The wait staff were friendly and nice and our wine was poured promptly and with little fuss but the food isn't worth the trek even if someone else if picking up the tab.
We visited this restaurant by chance on a quiet Saturday night when it was far from full. As others have noted, the setting, with its combination of wood, glass and steel, in various shapes, levels and textures, is a post-modernist architectural delight. The waiter made us feel at home, and brought a marvelous amuse-bouche even though, not being hungry, my husband and I shared three appetizers and dessert, and forewent a main course. The food was carefully and inventively prepared, full of color and contrast . Highly recommended.
A restaurant in a car factory? Yes, and also with style and good food. The restaurant is next to the reception and is also open for visitors who don't want to visit the factory. With a ticket you can get a € 1 reduction per ticket on the bill.We took the two course business lunch menu for €17 pp. The asparagus soup was excellent and meat or fish are very good prepared. There are also very good cheaper options on the menu.Together with a glass of good wine and perfect espresso we enjoyed our lunch absolutely.
We went to the Sunday brunch and the tour combined and despite being 35 EUR it was well worth it. The brunch was amazing and had everything we could possibly want (also currywurst!), there's also unlimited coffee and juice, as well as breakfast food, starters, main courses, and desserts. The staff were very attentive and polite. The tour of the factory was very interesting and our tour guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable - he answered all our questions and was very personable and entertaining. After the tour there was also coffee and cakes and ice cream and a cheese board. We had to go and lie down afterwards! But all in all a fantastic activity if you are visiting Dresden!
We loved that this restaurant is located in the Volkswagon factory! The meal was spectacular and we had impeccable service. The restaurant would probably be better for lunch, when you can watch the action on the showroom floor. But we thoroughly enjoyed our meal!
