My husband thought their Ceviche Mixto was as good as any ceviche he'd ever tasted, and we all loved their Saltados de Vegetales and Camarones, as well as their delicious noodle dish, Tallarin Saltado de Vegetales. Carlos, the owner, took my order and helped me get it to my car upon pick-up. He couldn't have been nicer or more helpful--he even included some Manzanilla tea in our order for free. We topped off our meal with 2 orders of alfajores, which were the perfect, sweet finish to a fine, authentic Peruvian dinner. Highly recommend.
“ "Outstanding Peruvian Food, but a little pricey There was (4) 0f us in our party and our bill was about $135.00 without alcohol, soda 's or dessert. Great location and right on El Camino, this isn 't an impressive looking place. In fact, you 'd likely not even notice driving by. But that would be a mistake...Food is good, service is reasonable but No picarones!!! We had the beef lomo, steak skewers and shrimp cocktails and ceviche mixto which had fish, squid and prawns with the perfect amount of spice and red onions. Was very fresh. We both loved this appetizer. We had two entres which we shared: the Pollo A la Parrilla with chile Pasilla which came with rice and potato and The Paella Marinera with assorted seafood. We absolutely enjoyed both of these dishes. There was no shortage of seafood in the paella, a real treat. The chicken was incredibly moist and perfectly seasoned. Servings for both were quite generous so we brought our leftovers home. The staff here was very courteous and took time to answer questions regarding the menu options. We shared two desserts: the rice pudding and the special cookie. Yum, yum. We plan to definitely return here again.
Beware of pricing on their website menu and the TripAdvisor profile. It does NOT match the actual menu in the restaurant. The real prices are over 25% more. I don 't know if it 's illegal but it sure is unethical. For that I took off 2 stars. As far as the food goes, the best thing was the Ceviche De Pescado. It wasn 't great, but it was pretty good. The Chupe De Camarones was average, needed more flavoring since it was on the bland side. The Pescado Frito was bad. The presentation of the dish was bland and lifeless. The fish itself was dry and lacked any type of flavoring. I did not enjoy this dish at all, especially for what they charge. I wouldn 't recommend this place.
Right on El Camino, this isn't an impressive looking place. In fact, you'd likely not even notice driving by. But that would be a mistake, as it has good food that is a bit unusual. Peruvian is not one of the more common offerings, but it's tasty and generally amenable to American tastes. It's just a different combination of flavors, but it's an effective change from the usual. For example, I had a paella stew that was fairly similar in composition to a paella from anywhere in Europe or New England but the most prominent taste was cilantro. Some folks don't like it, but I do, and it made a relatively commonplace dish into something pleasantly different. Everyone else had something that could be described as familiar but tasting tantalizingly different at the same time. Moderate prices too, at least for the area.
My husband and I have wanted to try this restaurant for quite a while. We went for dinner on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was quite full but we were seated promptly. Service was friendly and efficient. We started with the ceviche mixto which had fish, squid and prawns with the perfect amount of spice and red onions. Was very fresh. We both loved this appetizer.
