The rains came down, the beaver dam broke and suddenly highway 17 south was a washout. With no way south, we had to head north for a detour.How lucky! In Wawa, we were fortunate enough to get a delicious lunch at North of 17 Restaurant. Just as we had enjoyed several years previously, the diner was down-to-earth friendly and the food fresh and delicious. A hearty, good old fashioned, non-hipster club sandwich with real turkey, crispy lettuce, tomatoes with taste and crispy bacon stuck to our ribs for the upcoming adventure of driving the detour via highways 101 - 129. There is more to Wawa than a big dumb goose.

Good sized servings of American type food and some Greek options such as souvlaki. Serving staff are friendly and helpful about local activities.

It is definitely a locals place in downtown. Large bright room. Great service from a single, friendly person. Prices reasonable. Server was great at refilling coffee cup.

I ate at the North of 17 and had a good meal. The whole place needs a fresh coat of paint and new carpeting, but who doesn't? The food was tasty and moderately priced. The staff were friendly and helpful.It seems to be a pizza place with a lot of pizza being served for take out, but there is plenty of dining space for a crowd. I had a great burger, and would have had homemade pie for dessert, but I didn't see it in time.
