I was very pleased with my overall dining experienceThe food was really good, the restaurant was clean.

Northern chinese food withstronger flavor and spice. I love the spicy deep fried breaded fish,spicy soy sauce thousand year eggs with tofu and the cantonese salty fish,pork with eggplant. they re delious Good service with efficiency.

We had takeaway from here last night. The food was great. Fresh, well cooked and tasty. Will definitely be returning and looking forward to our leftovers tonight as the portions were large. 3 dishes between 2 people was too much!

Great food. Even after reading the bad reviews posted here, my husband and I went to the South Ocean with another couple for dinner last night to check it out for ourselves and I am really glad we did. The service was great, the food came fast, and everything was really tasty. 'Kung po ' shrimp was a real hit with all of us, but as with any shrimp dish there never seems to be enough shrimp when you have to share. The cantonese chow mein comes with shrimp, BBQ pork, chicken and vegetables and we also had beef with black bean sauce which was really tasty. The portions aren 't very large but they make up for it in the quality of the dishes. We all agreed that this will be the place to go for Chinese from now on. Ignore the other reviews and try it out for yourself, you won 't be disappointed.

New favourite.. South Ocean is quite possibly my favourite non dim sum Chinese restaurant in the city. The Hot and Sour soup is exactly that hot and sour, none of the corn starchiness present in almost every other HS in the city. A Sichuan pork stir fry on the lunch menu was fantastic, flavourful, spicy, and again thankfully absent of corn starch. After a lovely lunch experience, I also sampled the take out menu where the quality where the quality was so so. The Sichuan chicken was again one of the best I've ever had though the Cantonese dishes were lacklustre and mediocre. My verdict stick with the Sichuan dishes and you will enjoy everything you taste.
